Background
Stephen Reid runs Spring Business Innovation Ltd. Since 1995 he and his associates have worked with large organisations to develop high performance teams, business strategy, improved leadership ability, change management, creativity and the capacity for innovation. He has led projects with clients in UK, Europe the Middle East and America. The majority of his work is bespoke and is often based upon research into specific client needs. Publications Pearson Education published his book “How to Think” ‘Building Mental Muscle’ in 2002. Now available in China, Korea, Indonesia and Brazil. Permillion published his second book “High Performance Thinking Skills” in October 2006. Both books carry excellent endorsements by academics from Maastricht, Cranfield, Ashridge and Cambridge as well as by senior managers in industry. He has also had brief articles published in professional magazines such as Strategy and Personnel Today.
Conferences He has spoken at several conferences on the subject of innovation and business thinking skills for CIPD, CIM, ACCA, CMI and other organisations. His last presentation was entitled “Third Sector Challenges in a Recession”, Jan 30th 2009 to the Council of Samaritans. He set up and ran ‘The Innovation Forum’ from 1998 to 2002 bringing together senior business executives and senior civil servants to share best practice.
Occasional Post Graduate Education Work Part of his work involves the delivery of new ideas and skills as a visiting course director or as an associate at academic institutions. For example Stephen is a visiting faculty member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He is also an associate at Duke CE and The National School for Government at Ascot. Once or twice a year Stephen also delivers open workshops for the ACCA on Power Politics and Personal Influence. Stephen has led Creative Strategy workshops with the Strategic Planning Society from 1997 to 2003. He has in the past taught occasionally at Ashridge Management College as a guest lecturer.
Prior Work History Stephen has a solid commercial track record of turning around and running successful operations. He has lived and worked in the UK, Scandinavia, Saudi Arabia and Dubai with roles in sales and marketing at Eli Lilly, Country Management at Johnson and Johnson and General Manager and Local Board Director for Fisons’ Pharmaceuticals AS. Denmark. Stephen has an honours degree in Genetics and Cell Biology and is an amateur painter.
